Many people start with No Fap and soon they start to worry about No fap relapses. That’s why we want to clear up the subject and explain to you what to do if you have a no fap relapse. Because you can’t think that you’ve been masturbating to porn for maybe 10 years of your life. This behavior is extremely ingrained in your subconscious and you won’t be able to erase this habit overnight.
Stop counting the days
My biggest mistake at the beginning of my No Fap journey was that I was always counting the days. When I reached the tenth day, a switch flipped and I relapsed. So my advice to you is to stop counting the days, giving up pornography should be forever and not limited to 30 days.
Even if you relapse, it’s okay
Many people who relapse fall into a deep hole and the situation usually looks worse than before. I was also affected by this, it even happened that I masturbated to porn more often than before. But every day without porn is a good day. You won’t have more and more control from time to time and then life is just glorious, I can promise you that. Besides the no fap journey, you also need to grow as a person. Start reading great books, do sport, really get stuck into your job or studies. It’s great what you can do with all that extra time.
I think it’s good that you have high ambitions for yourself, but burying yourself in the ground now won’t help. Learn from the situations and keep the hope that you will make it.
Have good strategies
Be prepared for thoughts to keep coming up in your head that say “once is okay” or “masturbating is healthy”. You need the right strategies when urges come up, such as calling a good friend with whom you can go through the No Fap Journey together. Or you take a cold shower, do 20 push ups. Go straight out of the apartment if you live with someone, stop closing the door when you go into your room.
If you manage to see every day as a single day, it will be easier to really pull off No Fap more successfully. And when you have subconsciously kept it up for a while, you will notice how the thoughts about the pornographic material will subside.
See the whole thing as a journey of personal development
There will certainly be relapses, but if you previously held out for maybe 4 days, now it’s already 10 days, a significant improvement. Always have your goal in mind that you come into a room as a man, with people who watch porn every day and you just don’t watch porn anymore and don’t masturbate either. What a powerful feeling, isn’t it?
Don’t fall into the mindset that you should give up, because then you’ve really lost. But tomorrow is a new day when you can get back on track!
What other tips I can give you along the way
Eat healthily
Start giving your body only healthy nutrients. What we feed our bodies has a big impact on our minds. If you reach for a burger between a greasy burger or a protein-rich salad with salmon, you’re always damaging your willpower and once you’ve taken the easier route, you’re not far away from a pornography relapse.
You should also avoid processed foods in particular. Eat as much pure food as possible where there is no list of ingredients. This means fruit, vegetables, meat, nuts and seeds (not a complete list, of course).
Start meditating
I never used to manage to meditate for a few minutes. Why was that? Because my mind just couldn’t calm down. Take your time, even if it’s just a few minutes, and do a guided meditation.
You are welcome to try meditating when you feel the desire coming back to you. You might also be interested in the article on the benefits of No Fap.
